Presentation for Apple in NYC!

Photography

I was asked to speak at a "Made on a Mac" presentation, put on by Apple in their SoHo store in NYC! Watch the film that debuted there, that shows how I create each production shot!

This is a video filmed by J-four, and edited by Jordan Bruford. They set out to capture how one of my productions is done... from start to finish! For the video I was able to get a personal shot of Branden Steineckert, of Rancid, and his dog, which if you can imagine, provided some unbelievable footage! Its debut was at the presentation I gave for Apple in New York, in their SoHo store Saturday, March 24th 2007. They had me speak for a little over an hour and a half, and being one of the youngest Apple Pro's to speak there, I was intimidated to say the least. The film was a lot of work for everyone involved, so we hope you enjoy it!

This is the image Apple used to advertize for my presentation, which worked well, as the seats were full and even more people stood in the back to watch. If you look to the right of the flyer you will see the SoHo theater, which just below it, and slightly out of frame, has a massive glass staircase leading right into the theater itself. The SoHo store is Apples "Flagship" retail store, as it was the first in NYC, and is home to the largest theater of any other Apple store!

I've only just found all about you, Bryan. I'm sad this video is no longer available for viewing. Maybe I'll catch the next one, huh?

All the best.

Sara, I would love to work out getting a photo of your huge family! Also, the video should work, but if not, just go to YouTube and search for Bryan Niven. I went and made sure it was still up, and it is, let me know what you think:)

I watched the video and noticed the spiky hair being moved along with a lot of white background . Did you remove the white between the hairs pixel by pixel? Or do you have any tips for fast removal of the white?

Hey Debbie, sorry for the delay. As you may know, my entire background is in traditional art, painting, drawing etc, so in this situation I illustrated his hair in by hand using photoshop. If I can get a good selection with the extract tool, or with a mask, or other means of selecting like magic wand, I will to save time of course. Being an illustrator comes in handy with my work, and I drew his hair in, within a few minutes on this one. That is what is hard when explaining my work to photographers, there is no quick filter or trick to most of what I do, and that is what makes it what it is... That is what people enjoy it whether they know what Photoshop is or not.
