After having worked with a giant rubber band ball, mink stole, poofy titanic hat, and beautiful Gwen, who was such a great sport through the whole production, I can't help but smile...knowing I truly have the best job in the world.

I actually shot this photo months ago. The photo I took of Gwen -by herself- was just as I had wanted. However, I struggled for inspiration with the backdrop and props, that I would not end up shooting until months later.

As it usually happens with my projects, I pulled an "all-nighter" at my office, and sometime around 3 or 4 in the morning the backdrop became a reality... just as I had imagined it in my head.

In the end...you really can't rush art. I learned that as a young illustrator in California, many years ago, when I rushed to finish a drawing that I was not passionate about. After forcing myself to complete the image, I found myself sorely disappointed with the outcome.

Thankfully this time, the emotion on my client's face, (as she searched throughout the image for those special items belonging to her daughter), and then being told, "I can't believe it, this is perfect...it's Gwen", made every bit of stress and the long hours of editing WELL worth it.
