Introducing Mike and Laynie
13 December 2008, Reality Shoot
From dancing dogs, spilling popcorn, steak eating rabbits, and breathtaking scenery, this Reality Shoot of Mike and Laynie was quite an exciting production! | |

Here is the first stage during pre-production for Reality Shoot, where Mike takes sample images I send him, and roughly builds them up in Photoshop before drawing the final sketch. That way we can start building textures and getting proportions right.

I was driving through the deserts of Utah, searching for the backdrop, when I received this final sketch from Mike on my iPhone. I had stopped earlier that day at a rest stop to take some photos of my face with the expressions I wanted Mike to use as references for the sketch. I rely so much on mobile communications now, and I am always so impressed with my crew for how well they perform, even when I am hundreds or even thousands of miles away!

So here it is... the final image! I will have this up on realityshoot.com ASAP, but until then -with this image being so small on the blog, as to hide most of the fun details- I list some things to look for.
-spilling popcorn
-Milk Dud filled doggie bowl
-chalk bag
-black and white rabbit eating a steak
-dancing dog
-magic cards
Hope you have as much fun with this image as I did!

Thanks Steve, I am glad my work does what it is supposed to do my friend, that is to make people smile and laugh, and I am glad you enjoyed the interview! Thanks Matt, yes, it was my first broad daylight picture, that of course did not take place in broad daylight, so I am glad the warmth from Bryce Canyon came through. Wes, and Katie I am happy to see all the detail I go crazy over is being seen... even at this small scale on the blog. Debbi, good to hear you enjoy the work, and Ed I hope to continue inspiring, thanks again everyone. I should be shooting my next production at the end of this month or early next so stay tuned!
